- The bank receives the Bill for Collection of imported goods from the remitting bank and checks the instructions for payment collection, payment conditions, and related documents
- The bank contacts and informs the importer of the Bill for Collection
- The importer makes payments in the case of D/P or acceptance of D/A
- The bank presents the original Bill for Collection and receipt to the importer
- The bank makes payment to the seller via an international bank
- The bank collects payment from the importer upon the D/A due date and then makes payment to the seller

- Deliver Document against Payment (D/P): the bank will submit the document to the buyer after the buyer has fully paid the bank
- Deliver Document against Acceptance (D/A): the bank will submit the document to the buyer after having accepted the D/A to the bank. This guarantees reimbursement to the bank in the future
- Deliver Documents on other terms and conditions: the bank will submit the document to the buyer under other terms and conditions. For example, the document will be submitted to the buyer against a Letter of Undertaking or a Letter of Indemnity to pay at a future time
